Years of experience and knowledge crammed into a concise book with nice B&W line drawings, this book is a trophy. Keeping things simple, but packed full of information, Bill Bishop arms you with the information you need to hook (and possibly even land) a tarpon during practically any conditions you might encounter. Flies, leaders, anchors, and other equipment are discussed with enough detail and clarity that you can't help but start getting the itch to immediately put to sue what you've just read. I highly recommend this book.
Book is very informative. From knot tying to fishing and tarpon behavior. Great stuff. Just add water.
This isn't a great book. Needs more information and the tips that are given are written so poorly they aren't understandable. Wouldn't recommend
After reading Chico’s bonefish and redfish books I was hoping for more information. In particular, more info on food, behaviors, and tackle would be appreciated. Now don’t get me wrong, the book is definitely worth the cost, informational, and was enjoyable to read. I found the sections on presentations and fighting to be particularly insightful.
Great book. If you want to go flyfishing for Tarpon but can't, then read the book, it's like being there and doing it youself and you don't have to leave your EZ chair. If you are a Tarpon Fly Fisherman then read the book, I'm sure you'll learn some things.The author, Bill Bishop has mastered this sport of fly fishing for the 'High Rollers' and you can too if you read the book.Bill has mastered every hobby he has had. He won 1st place in the State Wild Turkey Calling contest in Orlando Florida. He mastered being an artist as you will see from his instructive drawings in the book as well as the book cover. Read the book and you'll agree that he has mastered writing.I purchased several of the books and gave them to fishing buddies for Christmas gifts. They all loved reading it and they constantly thank me.Don Grace
Bill does a wonderful job of telling it like it is, with some funny stories and a lot of hard-won inside information. Want to catch Tarpon? This is a masterpiece for you if you want more out of the experience than just having the guide lie to you.
This is the first book I've read on tarpon, it was wonderfully written and I will e referring back to it as I've learned a substantial amount from it.
Lots of information woven with real life stories. The transfer of knowledge was made in a conversational like sitting with a fishing buddy over an ice tea.
