If you are brand new to Tinkercad and have never tried it, this would be the book for you. If you have already signed up for Tinkercad and gone through the 5 free lessons, this book won't give you much more information about how to use it. There are only 2 projects, one of which is the same as one of the free Tinkercad lessons and the other is pretty similar. There is some information about materials and a list of printers, most of which are way out of the price range for a Tinkercad user. I honestly thought I would get a little more for $24.99 than what Tinkercad already gives out for free, and feel like I just wasted a lot of money.

Loved the book. Straight forward and I am ready to do my first project. Wish me luck. Adding a chapter on generated would be good.

Excellent

Be careful about ordering this because it is a very basic book, truly for Dummies and 3D printing newbies like me. For me it was perfect because I had so little knowledge of 3D printing in general. But I feel that you have the basics, this book may be far to simplistic for you. Even for me, there were a couple dozen pages about 3D modeling that were too basic for me. But I really appreciated learning the basics like .stl file types and different printing technologies which were again touched on in a shallow way, but valuable for me to even know that there are different additive printing medias and techniques. The actual Tinkercad information was also shallow and for beginners. It walks you through signing up for a Tinkercad account which is 10 pages of somewhat filler. There are two step by step examples for working with the UI which are great but simplistic. Personally, I like what I read and it gave a good look at what was possible, but again this is a very high level, shallow look at the system. I definitely found plenty of value in the book, but I am an absolute beginner and already feel that I have gleaned all the information from this book and I'm looking for the next level book.It did have a sizeable section that spoke about different 3D printers and 3D software packages. I am in the market for my first 3D printer so that was OK, but still seemed more filler than value, especially the software items. So to summarize, I'm glad I got a copy of this book and found that it met me at my level because I truly knew next to nothing about 3D printing. But do be careful if you have any experience with Autocad or have used a 3D printer for a while, perhaps look for a intermediate Tinkercad book.

Lessons Are Fairly Elementary But Good For Anyone Who Has Purchased A 3D Printer & Wants to Design Their Own "Stuff"I agree with the other reviewer (so far) that the lessons provided are relatively elementary for anyone experienced with any kind of 3D Cad. But asone who also received a 3D printer on the Vine Program (and similar to many new purchasers of a 3D Additive Solution) this is an excellent introduction to beginning to make your own stuff and exchange files with other formats. A wise purchase with a 3D printer.

"Tinkercad For Dummies" is a good reference book for those wanting to make or modify 3D printable files. I usually import files from Thingaverse and make modifications using Tinkercad, which has a fairly intuitive and user friendly interface. The book follows the standard "Dummies" format and has a lot of great tips mixed in with a good bit of humor. It is best to read through the book so you are familiar with the topics, which will make finding specific information much easier when editing files at 2:30AM.Highly Recommended!CFH

"Tinkercad For Dummies" by Shaun C. Bryant was exactly what I wanted. I wasn't familiar with Tinkercad so I wanted a book that could give me the basics of the application and walk me through the functionality. Author Bryant does a good job with both explanation and easy to understand step-by-step. There are a good deal of illustrations to accompany the text. The last chapters are devoted to printing which makes sense. All in all, it hit all the needed areas for beginners.

Lots of good info in this book. It helped me advance rapidly to the point that I made two designs in two days already.
