This is a fine, well-organized textbook. I have used this author before and find the lessons enjoyable. In my case, I am relearning HTML at home and am not a student. Therefore, I had to contact the publisher (Cengage) in order to get the necessary data files to do the lessons and exercises. If you are a beginner, I would suggest that you get an Introductory textbook from Mr. Carey before doing the Comprehensive. Be sure to get something that is up to date.
This book is published by Cengage Learning and the Author is Patrick Carey. This book and its publisher deserve no more than a one-star rating due to the fact that they do not provide any kind of technical support or the lesson files for this particular title to their customers. While there is a number available to call if you need technical support, you are hung up on when trying to call to get assistance. Regardless of if you call as a teacher or student, no service is provided. Furthermore, this book is one of the most expensive products out there offering to teach basic web design and development, yet the customer is not able to download files or get any kind of support if it is required. In other words, this product falls short of what it claims to offer, therefore, I would encourage anyone looking for a book in this subject matter to look elsewhere. There are better and cheaper alternatives out there to help you learn web development, and that won't leave you high and dry when you need support or lesson files.
This book arrived in new condition, as advertised. It is a requirement for a HTML/CSS college course that I am taking. The content is laid out nicely, and written and displayed nicely. The one issue that I have is that the book does not come with a content code for the online content of the book. I contacted customer service due to the code not being included, they researched and told me that this book is not offered with a code. Without the online content code the examples in the book aren’t as easy to understand .
Easy walk through instructions for the tutorials. Lay out is ok. It jumps between information and the tutorial. Great starting point for beginner web designers, but just like all college textbooks, definitely not work the $160 rental price I paid.
Hello,I bought this book for my class because the price was cheap. The reason it is cheap is because the course code which gives you the files are missing. If you are buying for your class and need the course code, then don't buy it. My code was missing. I am fortunate in that the Instructor is sharing the files with us; otherwise, I would send the book back.Annette
